Tiaki means to care for people and place. New Zealand is precious, and everyone who lives and travels here has a responsibility to look after it. The Tiaki Promise is a commitment to care for New Zealand, for now and for future generations.
By following the Tiaki Promise, you are making a commitment to New Zealand. To act as a guardian, protecting and preserving our home.
We invite all our guests to follow the Tiaki Promise.
Be Prepared, Show Respect, Drive Carefully, Protect Nature and Keep New Zealand Clean.
Nau Mai, Haere Mai Ki Aotearoa, Welcome to New Zealand.
Marihi is the Maori word meaning precious, prized and valuable. Marihi Aotearoa blends iconic design with quality fragrances and an added twist - a social conscience.
Not only do these toiletries provide a luxurious spa-like bathing experience, they also have a green twist - helping to provide shelter and sanctuary to New Zealand's endangered icon, the Kiwi. For every carton of Marihi Aotearoa we purchase, $4 is donated to the the Kiwi Crèche at Lake Opouahi. The Kiwi Crèche was established by ECOED Trust in 2008, and is 40 hectares of safe, pest-free space where Kiwi chicks can grow and thrive away from the threat of introduced species.
On top of this contribution to the Kiwi Crèche, we also provide reusable tote bags so guests can take home any partially used products, and any bottles left behind will be recycled under the Hotel Weka program.
Hotel Weka is an end-to-end recycling program that stops used hotel toiletries such as plastic bottles and tubes from going to the landfill or sea.
Sharing the same Kiwi mindset Q-Pod, an earth-friendly flooring company, and Castle, New Zealand's leading manufacturers of quality plastic products for the construction industry, are working with the Hotel Weka program to help to make a difference one piece at a time.
The recycled plastic is remoulded and used in concrete foundations for buildings and concrete paths across New Zealand with the aim of supporting sustainability efforts and creating a better future for present and future generations.
From feeling safe and comfortable walking hand in hand to knowing whether it’s okay to ask for a double bed, LGBTQ+ people can face specific challenges while travelling.
We pride ourselves on offering exceptional hospitality, and being Proud Certified is about making sure everyone gets that warm welcome. Via the Booking.com Travel Proud program, we've committed to offering an inclusive and comfortable experience for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community.
We consider New Zealand to be one of the safest and most inclusive countries on Earth. We're able to relate our personal travel experiences with those of our queer guests, and are confident that your Casa Nova stay will be welcoming, comfortable and memorable.
